News
from the City of Lake Forest
Update
6/09: A community workshop was held to view the potential
Sports Park land and come up with ideas on the components of the
park. Further review will take place by the City Parks and
Recreation Commission at their July 16th meeting. The
meeting is open to the public and a great opportunity to support
the need for new ball fields.
Update
7/08: The second reading of the Opportunities Study
occurred at the City Council meeting and passed with a 4-1 vote
(Peter Herzog being the hold out). This was the last big
formal step to moving forward with the Opportunities Study and
the development of new facilities for our community - sports
park, community center, etc.
Update
6/08: The City Council approved the
Opportunities Study. This is a great step towards
providing the facilities Lake Forest needs to service its
residents. We need to keep communicating with them to keep
the project moving - continue to write the Council letting them
know there is both a long term and short term need for fields!!
Update
4/08: The Planning commission unanimously approved the recommendation
to rezone to allow the Opportunities Study to move
forward. The formal approval will be before the City
Council on Tuesday, June 3rd at the regular Council
meeting. This would be an important meeting to
attend and show support for the Study and the need for new
fields!!
January
2008: Portions of the Draft Program Environmental Impact Report
(Draft PEIR) are currently being re-circulated for public review
and comment. The re-circulated Draft PEIR considers the climate
change impacts of the potential project and updates certain
sections of the Draft PEIR based on recent legislation and case
law. Additionally, the re-circulated Draft PEIR analyzes a new
alternative land use scenario which involves fewer homes and
more public facilities as compared to the Proposed Project
analyzed in the original 2006 Draft PEIR. Click
here to download a copy of the re-circulated Draft PEIR.

Welcome

program. High School Prep Baseball for El Toro High,
Trabuco High and other South Orange County High Schools.
Saddleback
Valley PONY is an organized PONY Baseball League located in Lake
Forest, California for ball players with the playing ages 9 through 14. Our intent is to create a positive learning
atmosphere for the growing youth of our community by improving
their skills in the game of baseball and developing strong
character traits.
WHY
PLAY PONY?
We play like the pros (Real baseball rules) * We prep you for
high school baseball * We teach you to lead-off & steal
bases * We teach pitchers pick-off moves * We use Big-Barrel
bats * We play 54’ mound to plate, 80’ between bases (Pony)
50' mound to plate, 70' between bases (Bronco)* We play with
steel cleats. Pony is all about flexibility - want to scrimmage
another league - go for it! want to enter your team in a
tournament - go for it! PONY is all about the kids.

From
the PONY Rule Book: "Flexibility is a key word in PONY
Baseball philosophy, which provides a pattern of league
operation that may be adapted to the needs of the community,
rather than asking the community to adapt to an arbitrary set of
rules and regulations."
